Herbert is a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Environmentalist, a member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI), the Energy Institute (EI), the Association of German Engineers (VDI), the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) and numerous other relevant organisations and associations such as tekom, the German Section of the International Solar Energy Society, the German Institute of Applied Ecology, and Scientists for Global Responsibility.
